Indian Earthy Naturals : Shea Aloe Vera Whipped Body Butter

I purchased this Shea aloe vera whipped body butter for my daughter who gets sporadic bouts of eczema. I have been using this butter daily on her for the past month or so and I can see a remarkable difference in her skin tone and texture. A happy baby = A happy mommy!!

KEY INGREDIENTS & THEIR BENEFITS

• Shea Butter: Naturally rich in vitamins A, E and F, it provides the skin with essential fatty acids and the nutrients necessary for collagen production (1). The concentration of natural vitamins and fatty acids in Shea butter make it incredibly nourishing and moisturizing for skin making it apt for dry skin and to help protect the skin’s natural oils (1).  Lupeol cinnamate in shea butter, reduces skin inflammation making it beneficial for acne (1). Shea butter aids in the skin’s natural collagen production and contains oleic, stearic, palmitic and linolenic acids that protect and nourish the skin to prevent drying (1).

• Wheatgerm Oil: Is readily absorbed by your skin, which makes it an effective moisturizer and an appropriate topical treatment. When applied to your skin, wheat-germ oil delivers a healthy infusion of vitamin A, vitamin D, B vitamins, antioxidants and fatty acids that help fight the signs of aging, supports collagen production, moisturizes and heals dry or cracked skin, and helps prevent scarring. • Coconut Oil: Rich in medium chain fatty acids or triglycerides, coconut oil retains the moisture content of the skin, as the fats eliminate moisture loss through the pores on skin (5).Vit E, an antioxidant, found in the oil is essential for healthy skin growth, repair of wear & tear on the skin, and protection against premature aging and wrinkling of the skin (5).

• Jojoba Oil: A natural emollient, it softens dry and irritating spots and restores the skin to a balanced condition, has anti-inflammatory properties that help in reducing inflammation caused by skin dryness (6). It’s anti-microbial properties and iodine content prevents harmful bacteria growth, which otherwise causes pimples, blackheads, and acne breakouts (6).

• Hemp Oil: Hempseed oil is very rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids which have been noted to be extremely healthy and strongly anti-inflammatory which helps in treating eczema (7). Additionally when applied topically, the oil acts like a moisturizer, improves the composition of epidural lipids (fats in the outermost skin layer ) and improves the overall functioning of skin (7).

• Essential Oil Of Lavender & Vanilla: Lavender has antiseptic, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory goodness (8).

 

The butter comes in a 80gm glass jar and is soft and fluffy to touch (much like whipped cream). It immediately melts upon skin contact and forms an oil film that gets absorbed with a couple of seconds hydrating and moisturizing the skin. I use this butter  before bedtime, after my daughters shower for extended hydration and I haven't been disappointed. I love the way her skin feels the next morning. 

IEN lets you pick your choice of essential oil for the butter and I chose lavender due to its calming and sleep aiding properties. The fragrance is very subtle, very floral and nothing like commercially available lavender. When I expressed this to Suman (the brain behind IEN), she explained why...

"...we never use fragrance(s) but only pure kashmir lavender oil, which is the most expensive amongst grades of lavender oil. There is a variety of common garden lavender also in market which is much cheaper but ours is pure kashmir one and our intention is solely to add ingredients for their properties they (impart) rather than solely on the scent part." 

This pretty much explains IEN's commitment to quality. To say I am satisfied with the product would be an understatement. I am so impressed with the efficacy and quality that I have gone ahead and already ordered my second jar!!! 

While this might be heavy for the summer, it is the perfect moisturizer for winters!!
