KEY INGREDIENTS & THEIR BENEFITS
  • Cocoa Powder: Cocoa powder contains lots of minerals including calcium, potassium and zinc (1). Cocoa solids contain high levels of caffeine and theobromine which are often used to to tighten the skin and reduce puffiness. Cacao is packed with antioxidants to help repair skin and flavanoids to reduce inflammation, improves function of blood vessels, increases blood flow, hydration, decreases skin roughness and improves complexion and helps the skin stay hydrated (2). Chocolate contains copper, iron, manganese, magnesium and zinc for the promotion of cell growth, the repair of tissue and the absorption of nutrients. Cocoa is also a rich source of sulfur, also known as the beauty mineral, necessary for healthy skin (3).
  • Cocoa Butter: Because of its natural make-up and its nutrient and fatty acid content, cocoa butter is amazing for dry skin and can actually penetrate further than the top layer of the skin, meaning it moisturises deep-down and really nourishes the skin (4). Cocoa butter can also be helpful for many skin problems like eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and skin irritation.
  • Mango Butter: It’s rich in oleic acid, a mono-unsaturated omega-9 acid; and stearic acid, a saturated fatty acid: ingredients that the skin readily recognizes, takes up, and uses to help add moisture to the skin, repair damage, and improve elasticity (5). Dry patches, flakiness, eczema and dermatitis flare-ups, and even psoriasis can benefit from daily application of mango butter, which goes to work deeply moisturizing and repairing damaged skin. Because it’s rich in vitamin C, mango butter can help encourage the production of collagen, which promotes a firmer appearance on skin, reducing the look of sagging and bagging (5). Mango butter is also natural source of vitamin A that helps stimulate the cells responsible for keeping skin firm, reducing fine lines and wrinkles and increasing skin’s overall youthful look. Also helps reduce the degeneration of skin cells, preventing that damaging process that leads to wrinkles and helps heal cracks, or other small wounds (5).
  • Apricot Oil: Rich in gamma linoleic acid, or GLA, which comes from essential fatty acid omega-6: the GLA content in apricot kernel oil helps skin to maintain moisture balance (6). GLA also plays a role in firming and toning your skin, according to Close. Additionally, apricot kernel oil contains vitamin A and E, which soothe the skin and slow signs of aging (6). The nourishing properties of apricot kernel seed oil have an anti-inflammatory effect and may soothe minor skin conditions such as eczema (6).
  • Wheatgerm Oil: Is readily absorbed by your skin, which makes it an effective moisturizer and an appropriate topical treatment. When applied to your skin, wheat-germ oil delivers a healthy infusion of vitamin A, vitamin D, B vitamins, antioxidants and fatty acids that help fight the signs of aging, supports collagen production, moisturizes and heals dry or cracked skin, and helps prevent scarring. (7,8).
  • Flax Oil: High omega-3 content in the oil has an anti-inflammatory effect, it helps normalize skin lipids and seal in moisture, both of which leads to improved hydration. The omega-3 fatty acids also are an essential component of epidermal and dermal cells and are necessary to maintain their structural integrity (9).
  • Soy Lecithin: Works as a natural emollient, emulsifier, thickener, antioxidant and spreading agent (10). It helps to soften and moisturize the skin, alters the skin structure, allowing other substances to penetrate deeper. Soya lecithin helps emulsify oil and water products, making formulas more stable. Works as an antioxidant helping repair free radical damage, soothing inflamed & irritated skin (10). It attracts water to the skin, working to prevent moisture loss from deep within the skin tissues. Due to its high levels of oleic and linoleic acid, soy lecithin is very moisturizing (10).
  • Edible Chocolate & Vanilla Essence

The choco body butter comes in a  150 gm container with a screw on top. Predictably brown in color, the butter is thick in consistency with a buttery, velvety texture, and strong aroma of chocolate.

To use, slather on a generous amount to towel dried skin for best results.

With inherent nutrients and emollients, this non-greasy, moisturizing cocoa butter which looks and smells good enough to eat, sinks deep into skin to soften, nurture and protect. As with the ylang ylang variant, this body butter too is feathery light and luxuriously hydrates my dry skin for a good 24 hours. The chocolate aroma is reminiscent of my favorite indulgence: Cold Milo! The fragrance does feel a little strong at times and does not dissipate quickly.

This body butter is an indulgent way to nourish your skin and a calorie-free way to enjoy chocolate!
