It took me a while to realize how detrimental drugstore available face cleansers were. I had almost sworn off soap based cleansers when I came across this best selling Just Herbs product that has the blogging community raving.

• Neem Extract*: Extracts from the neem oil along with the leaves reveal antibacterial and antiseptic benefits (1).  The nimbidin and nimbin two anti-inflammatory compounds found in the neem oil help relieve swelling and redness while quercetin, supports the body’s ability to respond to inflammation by inhibiting both the manufacture and release of histamine and other irritants (2). Neem is especially high in important fatty acids and vitamin E and can quickly penetrate outer layers of skin, it is extremely effective in healing dry and damaged skin. Its strong antiseptic properties help keep bacteria and secondary skin infections at bay (2).

• Bitter Orange Peel: It  has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and anti-fungal properties, make it ideal for acne-prone skin types. Combining the balancing with antibacterial effect helps keep the skin clean and free of excess oil yet it doesn’t strip the skin and leaves the skin feeling  balanced, refreshed, and ready for moisturization, while the anti-inflammatory action calms redness and irritation, helping skin to recover from past injuries (3).

• Aloevera Leaf Juice*: Aloe vera’s blend of amino acids, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals help rejuvenate, protect, soothe and beautify the skin. It calms irritations and restores tired skin (4).

• Honey: Natural antibacterial, it's great for acne treatment and prevention. Full of antioxidants, slows slowing down aging. Extremely moisturizing and soothing , honey is clarifying because it opens up pores making them easy to unclog (5).

• Calendula Extract: The herb stimulates the production of collagen at wound sites and minimizes scarring and is known for its ability to brighten skin and protect from blemishes (6).

• Cucumber Extract: Gentle astringent, high in vitamin C and silica, that soothes and brightens skin and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines while refining and cleansing the pores. It is used traditionally to refresh and smooth dry skin and to treat rashes and puffy skin, especially around the eyes (7). Lutein component of cucumber can help suppress melanogenesis, the process that leads to skin discolorations (8).

• Chandan(Sandalwood) Extract: Very effective as an anti-inflammatory agent, it soothes the skin, relieves it from inflammation and irritation, cures infections and keeps you feeling fresh and cool (9).

• Sandalwood Hydrosol : Rejuvenating skin tonic that calms and cools skin. It can be used as an astringent, as well as a treatment for acne, rosacea, couperose skin, eczema and psoriasis. It is also a very good compress for sensitive and mature skin; its anti-inflammatory properties are highly calming and balancing (10).

• Orange Blossom Water: Helps hydrate dry skin and soothe sunburned or sensitive skin, and due to its hydrophilic properties, it acts as a natural surfactant and emulsifier (11).

• Cocoamidopropyl Betain: Gentle surfactant used in skincare products, almost always as a secondary cleansing agent and lather booster (13).

• Soy Lecithin: Phospholipid found in the membranes of soy and widely used in cosmetics as an emollient and water-binding agent (15).

• Vegetable Glycerine: Glycerin is a skin-identical and skin-repairing ingredient, it is one of the many substances in skin that help maintain the outer barrier and prevent dryness or scaling (16).

• Sodium Benzoate: The benzoic acid portion of this ingredient conveys some amount of preservative benefit, most notably against fungi (17).

Silksplash, comes in a  100 mL plastic bottle with a pump nozzle. Orange in color, it is of a flowing consistency and has a subtle fragrance of sandalwood. Due to the presence of plant based surfactants, it produces foam and lathers slightly. 

To use, I dispense two pumps onto my Clarisonic Mia and let it work in circular motion before rinsing it off and follow it up with a moisturizer/serum of my choice. I usually use this on alternate days.

The cleanser gives the skin exactly what it needs: gentle, effective cleansing that washes away impurities without drying, irritating or causing redness.  Perfect for all skin types, this formula works as well for dry/sensitive skin as it does for those prone to breakouts. The skin feels cleansed and hydrated at the same time. 

Free of SLS/SLES and other synthetic ingredients,this cleanser is a must for all.
